Qualcomm Ventures Annual QPrize™ Competition to Fund the World’s Next Innovative and Disruptive Startups

The Israeli winner will secure US $250,000 and compete for an additional

US $250,000 Grand Prize – Submissions by July 10, 2015

The goal of the contest is to identify and fund the industry’s next promising, early-stage technology companies. The Israeli winner will receive US $250,000 in convertible note financing from Qualcomm Ventures and will be invited to compete against other regional finalists in the QPrize Grand Finals competition for an additional US $250,000. A panel of experts comprised of Qualcomm Ventures representatives, leading VCs managing partners, angel investors, and outstanding entrepreneurs will evaluate each company based on the merits of their technological innovation, market potential, management capabilities, and the attainability of their proposal’s financial projections.

“Israeli companies have a strong track record in this competition, having won the global prize three out of the five years that the competition has been in place. Medisafe won the global prize in 2014, and has recently made a successful financing round of $6M. Panoramic Power won the global prize in 2009, and has since raised $15M. IONROAD won the 2013 global competition, and was later acquired by Harman,” says Mony Hassid, Managing Director of Qualcomm Ventures, Qualcomm Israel.

Hassid elaborates further: “As in previous years, we expect innovative startups from across the technological spectrum to compete. The QPrize event is a great opportunity, because it assists startups in getting global exposure. Participating startups will not only get exposure to Qualcomm’s venture capital arm, but also to first tier investors in Israel. This should encourage all local startups to approach and compete for the jackpot.”

The QPrize™ 2015 competition will take place without an audience so that the presenters will be able to comfortably pitch to the panel in the format of a presentation followed by a Q&A. Only companies that have raised less than $2M in funding are eligible to participate.
