IATI HR Global Companies Workgroup- Market Survey: Workplace Attendance

  • 95% of the companies reported 3 days or less in office.
    43% - 3 days; 31% - 2 days; 20% - flexible. (Only 5% expect 4 days or more).
  • 90% of companies believe their policy is effective and only 29% are considering making changes to their policy in the next 12 months. Out of those who are considering changing their policy, the main consideration is increasing in one day from 2 to 3 or 3 to 4 depending on global policy that may change.
  • Most companies (63%) have one consistent policy for all employees, 20% differentiate by role (e.g. customer facing vs. tech), location or distance from office is not a strong consideration that impacts expectation to be in office.
  • In all cases, the policy is not being enforced, rather encouraged. There are no ramifications or further action if policy is not adhered to. 
  • When asked about the problems/challenges companies are facing with their current approach, the main concerns raised were: “reduced energy”, negative impact to teamwork, knowledge sharing and overall commitment is assumed to be on a decline. In addition, the HR leaders report that office space is limited so when the office is at peak individual productivity may suffer (noise and less optimal space).
